    We have searched for a suitable kit form equivalent of our extremely popular QB2 CNC routers and after careful assembly and testing, the Ultimate Bee is very similar to our CNC3D QB2 but is available in a full self assembly kit form. This makes for a high performance CNC router at an affordable price. Perfect for hobbyists and small businesses who want to add a CNC to their workflow. 
     
    The Ultimate Bee features commercial grade tool steel profile rails on all axes and an industrial grade ballscrew drive system.
     
    The Ultimate Bee is designed to make light work of a variety of materials including:

    Bulkman3D has followed CNC3D very closely over the years and have sent us a sample Ultimate Bee kit to test out and we feel the quality is very good and comparable to the performance of our Australian made QB2 CNC. As a result, CNC3D is now the exclusive Australian stockist of Ultimate Bee CNC kits and supply them with the power and performance of our Nighthawk CNC controller running at 36VDC.
     
    We recognise that kits can be challenging to build and CNC can have a massive and sometimes scary learning curve. As such, our objective is simple; to provide a great value, high performance and easy to use CNC router kit backed up and supported by the high level of service and support CNC3D is renowned for.
     
    This listing is for a full Ultimate Bee mechanical kit that includes our Australian made Nighthawk controller which is well matched to the design of the Ultimate Bee.
     
    The following is also included with each Ultimate Bee kit provided by CNC3D:

    Please Be Aware!
     
    To keep the costs of these machines down, they are provided as a full kit and you are required to do every part of the assembly, including assembly, wiring and setup.
     
    This can be a challenging and time consuming build if you have not worked with a kit or machine like this before.
     
    You will require some tools to complete the machine build. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Metric Allen key set (2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm)
    • Circlip pliers
    • Spanners
    • Wire strippers
    • Crimping tool
    • Measuring Equipment (Tape measure, Calipers)

    If you purchase an Ultimate Bee kit and wish to control the VFD via the Nighthawk, the HY VFD provided can only go one direction. Typically, Clockwise is required.

    CNC3D does not offer a build service for Ultimate Bee kit machines.
     
    Parts of this kit involve 240V mains wiring. We must legally advise that in order to perform any mains wiring for your machine you are required to contract a licensed electrical contractor, or hold a current electrical license yourself. This includes wiring mains power to the 36V power supply, mains supply to the VFD, as well as the 240V 3-phase cabling to the spindle provided with the Ultimate Bee kit. 
     
    Please Note: High powered lasers like option in this kit are extremely dangerous. We recommend using these lasers in a laser filtered enclosure or with the use of Laser goggles like the ones located on our 3DStore HERE
     
    We cannot be held responsible for any misuse of any of our laser products. Please ensure you have appropriate PPE when using any laser.

      Software Options

      We recommend using our CNC3D Commander software to control your machine, it has a variety of fun features and supports all of the extended features of the Nighthawk such as remote uploading and execution of jobs.

      It is completely FREE and can be downloaded HERE

       

      Spindle Milling/Routing

      For 3 axis CNC milling there are several free and paid software packages you can use to get your SharpCNC running. If you are new to CNCs that's OK, we all need to start somewhere.

       

      To make things easy and get you setup quickly, we recommend using Easel CNC, Easel is a web based design program that makes getting started extremely simple.

      Laser Engraving

      We recommend using our CNC3D Commander softwares Creation Tools for general laser engraving. It can be found by clicking on the "Create" button at the top of Commander.

    • Spindle & VFD Info:

      Our 1.5kw Spindle + VFD option accepts ER11 collets only. The spindle is Air cooled for easy installation and maintenance.

       

      The 1.5kw spindle is actually a 3 phase spindle for extremely quiet and vibration free operation, Typically we ship either a 1.5kw or 2.2kw VFD (Depending on availability) to drive these spindles. The VFDs will accept either a single phase 240v or 3 phase input depending on what you have available.

       

      The diameter of this spindle is 65mm.

       

      IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not supply any of the high voltage AC wiring for the VFD or spindle. Electrical safety regulations in Australia require that all 240v / 3 phase work be carried out by a licensed electrician, as such we discourage DIY wiring of any high voltage wires. Any DIY work done on the high voltage side will void any warranties on the entire kit.

       

      **Please note:

      Due to the volatile nature of VFDs, CNC3D provide minimal support for configuring and setting up any VFD.

       

      Under Australian Law all 240V work MUST be completed by a licenced Electrician.

       

      If you do not have experience setting up VFD's, we do not recommend changing any settings yourself and to seek advice from your licensed electrician that is installing your VFD for you.

       

      Failing to configure your VFD correctly may result in catastrophic events occurring such as the VFD physically exploding if settings are not configured correctly prior to powering on any VFD - this may void your warranty

       

      Many domestic electricians do not have experience working with VFDs as they are often used in industrial environments, so you will want to check with your electrician before booking their services to ensure they are comfortable programming and wiring a VFD.

      Difficulty Rating: ★★★★☆

      To keep the costs of these machines down, they are provided as a full kit and you are required to do every part of the assembly, including wiring and setup.

      There is a lot involved in this and will require some mechanical knowledge on behalf of the person putting it together.

      We don't have an estimate of the time that this build will take. For someone with lots of hands-on experience with this sort of kit it can be done over a weekend, for someone who has never built anything like this before it can be a long process over multiple weeks.

      There are also certain parts that will require an electrician. Under Australian law no work may be done on any mains voltage wiring without holding a current electrical license.

      In the Ultimate Bee kit you will need an electrical license or a licensed electrician to wire the 36v power supply to the mains, the VFD to mains power, as well as the 3-phase 240v wiring between the spindle and VFD. Not all domestic electricians are experienced or offer their services to work with VFDs as they are not commonly found in domestic environments. It may be worth calling around before placing your order to make your build as seamless as possible.

      * CNC3D cannot provide support for setting up or changing settings on your HY VFD. These have been pre-set at the factory for ease of use. If you decide to change any settings, including wiring your HY VFD to your Nighthawk for control, you do so at your own risk.
