When receiving your machine make sure to uncrate it, even if you are still building your table. This will prevent moisture from condensing in the crate which can lead to rust buildup on any exposed steel, including rails and ball screws! See "How We Ship" for more info!

The QueenBee CNC was originally designed by the CNC3D engineering team as an upgrade for the SharpCNC and WorkBee CNC to provide a superior performance gain on a variety of materials. Since then it has become one of the most popular CNC machines all over the world.

Where the QueenBee really shines is in it's low-cost to performance ratio and is an excellent tool for every shed or workshop. It features an 8mm leadscrew driven design on all axes and 15mm profile rails all round.

The QueenBee CNC is classified a medium-heavy duty hobby machine and is recommended for serious home hobby CNC operators and light duty commercial applications where a CNC can fill some of the gaps in your business or expand your current product offering.

The QueenBee was designed to make light work of materials such as:

    Timbers (All)

    Plastics (All)

    Foams (If machinable)

    Alloys (Aluminium and brass)

    Composite panels

Each QueenBee CNC comes fully assembled and ready to plug and play. Every QueenBee is carefully assembled and dialled in by our team for optimal performance right out of the box!

    Each QueenBee machine includes:

    Nighthawk CNC controller

    Easy probing mount Limit switches

    Fitted 16mm MDF spoil board

Endmills to get started (with spindle option)

    Choosing the 1.5kw Spindle option:

The 1.5kw air-cooled spindle is well matched to the design and performance of the QueenBee. The spindle itself has a 65mm diameter and supports ER11 collets allowing a maximum shank size of up to 1/4" (6.35mm). It features 3 ball bearings and is designed to work for extended periods of time provided that it is run at 16,000 RPM or more.

We supply a genuine IP66 rated 1.5kw Invertek VFD to drive your spindle. All our VFDs are fully C-tick approved and fully electrically fitted and complied for use in domestic and commercial environments.

Choosing our Quick-access magnetic dust shoe option:

Keeping your machine and workshop clean and tidy is something not to be overlooked.

Made from durable plastic, our quick-access magnetic dust shoes make keeping your machine clean and tidy, setting your zero, changing endmills and observing your job a Snap!

Simply dettach and reattach the magnetic front cover, attach your vacuum hose and away you go.

Please note: The vacuum hose fitting suits standard shopvac/workshop style 32mm hoses. Vacuum cleaner not included.

    Choosing a Probe:

We offer 2 types of probes with the QueenBee CNC; A Z axis only probe and an XYZ probe. Using a probe is a great way to find the edges and top of your jobs very accurately and easily. Our CNC3D Commander software has an easy probing wizard that makes probing very easy for both the Z only probe and the XYZ probe.

For those who simply want to set their job zero on the surface on a piece of material the Z probe is a great option. For those who want to find the actual corner of a piece of stock the XYZ probe is the perfect tool for precisely positioning the cutting tool directly over the corner.

Every QueenBee CNC machine comes with a quick connect probe port right on your Z axis.

Should I choose the 15w laser option?

Our 15w laser option is a great way of putting finishing touches on a timber or leather project and can produce beautiful grayscale engravings or branding on your products. Please note: We do not guarantee that our lasers will cut anything but some of our customers have surprized us with just how capable our 15w lasers really are!

Please Note: T-tracks are NOT included with your machine. They are available for separate purchase if required. They can be found HERE. You can also add some clamps HERE

    • Z height travel details

To clarify the Z Travel, this is not the max cutting depth or the travel range of the axis itself. Z travel is the distance downwards it can travel before hitting the spoil board.

The Queenbee has a maxium Z travel of ~110mm.

To calculate the max cutting depth for a chosen piece of material, use the following equation:

Max Cutting Depth = Z travel – Material Thickness

For instance a setup with a 16mm spoiler board, the max Z travel is 110mm, so when cutting into a material 60mm thick the max cutting depth would be:

      Max Cutting Depth = 110 – 60 = 40mm

This means with a 60mm piece of material it would not be possible to cut it the whole way through.

The max thickness that can be cut the whole way through is half the Z travel. So with a Z travel of 110mm, 50mm is the maximum thickness of material that could be cut the whole way through.

      Software Options

We recommend using our CNC3D Commander software to control your machine, it has a variety of fun features and supports all of the extended features of the Nighthawk such as remote uploading and execution of jobs.

It is completely FREE and can be downloaded HERE

      Spindle Milling/Routing

For 3 axis CNC milling there are several free and paid software packages you can use to get your SharpCNC running. If you are new to CNCs that's OK, we all need to start somewhere.

To make things easy and get you setup quickly, we recommend using Easel CNC, Easel is a web based design program that makes getting started extremely simple.

You can start using Easel after creating an account by clicking HERE

For more advanced software we recommend using Carveco. Carveco gives you the freedom to design and manufacture high-quality 2D or 3D products. Get started with Carveco by clicking HERE and using code: CNC3D at checkout for 5% off.

      Laser Engraving

We recommend using our CNC3D Commander softwares Creation Tools for general laser engraving. It can be found by clicking on the "Create" button at the top of Commander.

For more advanced laser engravers or design we recommend looking into Lightburn.

    • How We Ship the QueenBee

      If you are in Australia

We ship everything directly from our factory on the Gold Coast to your door.

When receiving your machine make sure to uncrate it, even if you are still building your table. This will prevent moisture from condensing in the crate which can lead to rust buildup on any exposed steel, including rails and ball screws!

We do what we can to prevent moisture and condensation from building up inside the packaging, however we cannot stop all moisture ingress. Opening the crate will allow any humidity to escape and will help to prevent water in the air from condensing on the exposed steel.

We will not be held responsible for any rust buildup on a machine that has been delivered but not opened.

If you are outside of Australia

If our international customers would like a fully assembled machine, we can quote a freight price for it to be sent, although we strongly advise this would not be an economical option to choose.

      How it comes:

Each fully assembled QueenBee machine is firmly secured to a pallet and wrapped in plastic. The sensitive electronics are protected during shipping in an MDF box.
For Australian customers, they can be delivered to both residential or business sites and a tail lift is provided for easy unloading from the delivery truck.

Generally, we ship machines with Mainfreight or TNT.

For international customers, you will need to confirm that we can physically ship to your door and it must be sent via Sea freight only.
