Meet the Nighthawk SCRIBE CNC controller. The SCRIBE is a low cost alternative to our powerful, Australian made Nighthawk CNC controller and is suitable for DIY applications and small robotic projects.

It has been designed to have all of the cutting edge technoglogy of it's bigger brother including:

    • WIFI & Bluetooth connectivity for smooth, noise free operation.
    • Powerful web interface for control via Smart phones, tablets or PC.
    • Access to the premium, extended features of our CNC3D Commander software.

Featuring a handy diagnostic LCD display that provides critical information about how the controller is performing and can also indicate the status of limit switches and probing without needing to connect to a PC.

The SCRIBE can be easily retrofitted or setup on smaller CNC routers and CNC laser engravers that have smaller motors, such as a 3018 or 3040 CNC routers.

Please Note: While the SCRIBE can be powered by either 12v or 24v power supplies, if you plan on using a laser over 5W, we highly recommend using a 24v power supply due to the increased heat generated and power required at lower voltages with high power devices.

The SCRIBE is available in 2 options:

    Full SCRIBE controller

This is a complete package that includes a set of 4 x DRV8825 drivers and enclosure with cooling fan. This is an easy solution for those of you who want to quickly and easy retrofit a controller to your existing CNC machine. If placing an order, please let us know the model number or current rating of your motors and our team will adjust the current to suit.

When adding to your cart please leave a note with the current rating of your stepper motors. Your Full SCRIBE Controller's drivers will be preset to 1A by default unless we're told otherwise and you will need to tune them to your motors.

    Card Only

This option is for those who may have higher powered stepper motors and drivers and want to replace their existing 3 axis CNC controller. The card only option is great for installation inside a ventilated enclosure.

With either option, the SCRIBE features all of the awesome technology of the full Nighthawk CNC controller in a smaller design.

The SCRIBE uses the power of an ESP32 microcontroller that handles all of the smarts. The ESP32 processor is a super fast and reliable 32-bit processor that has more than enough horsepower to easily drive your CNC smoothly and reliably while having some serious technology packed in!

The SCRIBE supports the use of replaceable stepper drivers like the DRV8825 or TMC2208 drives for convenient and simple setup. Alternatively, you can easily wire up larger external drivers

To make things as universal as possible, the SCRIBE supports 4 pin JST plugs found on existing diode CNC laser engravers and 3018 CNC routers as well as screw terminal inputs for custom installations.

The SCRIBE is capable of controlling 3 independent axes (XYZ) and has a secondary motor output for the Y axis for machines that use 2 motors on the Y axis (XYYZ).

If you require a 4 axis controller OR a controller that supports dual axis homing, our standard Nighthawk controller would be the best option. The Nighthawk controller can be found HERE
