Hi guys, new CNC3D builder here.
Im retrofitting an existing CNC mill using CNC3D hardware. I have to redo the belt drive to suit the new stepper motors.
I was wondering if there was a certain ratio the CNC3D gear needs to work with, or even an ideal ratio for CNC mills in general.
Currently the old system with servo motors was a 2:1 ratio, however with the larger shaft on the new stepper motors, i might not be able to achieve that same ratio.
TIA
Hello.:) Sorry we missed this one! Not specifically, no. As long as steps per millimetre are adjusted accordingly, you should theoretically be able to run any gear ratio you like!
